Video: U.S. Senate hearing on bill that negatively impacts Montana's OHV recreationPosted December 17, 2009
The U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, chaired by Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), held a hearing on Dec. 17 to receive testimony on various bills, including S. 1470, the Forest Jobs and Recreation Act of 2009. S. 1470, introduced by Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), would restrict access to many miles of popular riding trails. Additionally, the AMA is concerned that bill language may not be strong enough to protect designated motorized use areas from future threats. The bill would also close the popular Mt. Jefferson snowmobile area in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.
