Boston police launch voluntary initiative targeting motorcycle exhaust soundPosted September 17, 2009
A new initiative by the Boston police, called "Pipe Down, Please," is designed to reduce motorcycle exhaust sound on the city's North End streets. The voluntary program is modeled after one in Golden, Colo., called "Silence is Golden." In the program, the police distribute informational cards that include reminders of existing sound level ordinances and tout the value of public quiet. According to an article on NorthEndWaterfront.com, the police will initially target known gathering spots for motorcyclists, such as Hanover St. To read the rest of the article about the new Boston police initiative, click here.
